PERSONA delves into the complexity of human identity, exploring the various facets of a person’s character that differ from their true self. The project focuses on the concept of the mask—both literal and metaphorical—as a symbol of the persona we present to the world. This exterior, shaped by societal expectations, often masks the deeper layers of a person’s true nature.

The figure beneath the mask is an embodiment of the contrasting qualities that coexist within an individual. The mask acts as a reflection of different traits—be it humour, strength, gentleness, elegance, or amorous feelings—that can emerge in different contexts, allowing the wearer to adopt multiple personas as needed. These external expressions often mask the inner complexities of a person, revealing only what is chosen to be shown to the world.

In this project, the mask serves as a tool for exploration, offering a glimpse into the dichotomy between one's internal and external selves. Through the layers of persona, we witness how identity is fluid, shaped by both personal choice and societal influence. The work invites viewers to reflect on the masks they wear in their own lives, and the tension between what they show the world and who they truly are beneath the surface.
