After spending more time with CC, the subject of this series, I became more familiar with her life and personal experiences. We began sharing moments beyond photography—sometimes visiting her friend's florist, exploring a variety of flowers, or trying out local delicacies together. Our shared interest in photography developed into a unique dynamic, where, while I was taking photos of her, she would record my work with her phone. This playful exchange of roles added a new layer of connection between us and became an integral part of the process.
During our time together, I asked her about her attraction to girls, and she shared that, from an early age, she had always been drawn to them. She recalled an experience from school when a girl kissed her for fun, and although it surprised her, it also deeply touched her in a way that she had never felt with boys. This revelation deepened my curiosity about her inner world, which seems at odds with her boyish appearance and outward style. Her outward persona intrigued me, and I was determined to explore the contrast between her external appearance and internal emotions.
In this series, I focus on capturing the details and states of the human body, reflecting the complex emotions of the subject. As humans, we exhibit different feelings and states depending on our mental and emotional circumstances, and I wanted to capture that in her body language. I used daisies, light and shadow, and flowing water as visual elements to express the tranquility, beauty, and inner love within the homosexual world. One of the breakthroughs in this shoot came when I experimented with studio lamps—a departure from my usual approach as a fashion photographer used to artificial lighting. To my surprise, the photos came out even better than expected, as the subject was in a completely natural state under indoor environmental lighting, which created a softer and more intimate atmosphere. This shift in technique allowed me to capture the true essence of her emotions and inner world.
Through the photos, I came to understand her inner spirit more deeply. Although she has an innate ability to build intimate relationships with others, she also knows how to keep a distance, maintaining a sense of separation to protect her emotions. Despite her boyish appearance, she is incredibly gentle, sensitive, and deeply loving. She enjoys creating romantic moments, surprises, and has a sense of nostalgia for the simple beauties in life. The daisy symbolizes naivety, peace, hope, and pure beauty—representing the love deep inside her heart. Through this prop and her emotions, the series speaks to the peace and beauty of the homosexual world, revealing the complexities of identity, connection, and emotional depth within the context of love and relationships.
