Xenobotany -2026

Analog Photography

Xenobotany explores forms of vegetal life as if they were foreign, unfamiliar, or yet to be

named. Using flowers, plants, and fungi as central subjects, the series departs from

traditional botanical representation, presenting organic bodies that resist clear classification.

Subtle shifts in scale, texture, and context create a sense of estrangement, where the familiar

becomes uncertain. Fungi, occupying a position beyond conventional plant taxonomy,

introduce a model of life that is relational, adaptive, and diffuse. Through minimal

compositions and controlled lighting, the work constructs a quiet yet charged visual space.

Rather than documenting nature, Xenobotany reflects on how systems of knowledge shape

what we recognise as natural, inviting a reconsideration of alterity, embodiment, and the

boundaries between human and nonhuman.
