Fragmentation: Embracing Brokenness and Reconstruction - 2025

Analog Photography

Fragmentation explores the multifaceted nature of identity and the blurred boundaries of self, drawing inspiration from the concepts of brokenness and reconstruction. The project is rooted in the "Broken Form" idea and the Kintsugi philosophy of mending with beauty—where imperfections are not concealed but embraced, and the process of repair enhances the form rather than diminishes it. This philosophy offers a powerful metaphor for the journey of self-discovery, where the fractures in our identity do not signify weakness but resilience.

In this photoshoot, experimental distortion and reassembly of portraits visually represent the fractured yet resilient nature of identity and emotion. The use of broken, fragmented images symbolizes the inevitable experiences of breaking and reforming throughout life—encounters with loss, change, and growth. Each portrait, while distorted and fragmented, conveys a sense of wholeness and strength through the process of mending and reconstruction, reflecting the complex journey of self-realization and emotional endurance.

Fragmentation serves as a visual narrative of personal transformation, showcasing how identity is never static but constantly shifting, breaking, and reforming in response to life’s challenges. Through this work, the project invites viewers to reflect on the beauty found in the broken, the reconstructed, and the resilient, celebrating the continuous evolution of the self.
