Garden of Earthly Delights - 2022

Analog Photography

Inspired by Hieronymus Bosch's "The Garden of Earthly Delights", this project explores the perils of life's temptations through a vibrant, surreal world filled with colorful forms and the interplay of light and shadow. While there is no direct warning image of secular indulgence, the work subtly conveys a dire message about the dangers of excess and desire. The bright colors used throughout the composition evoke the initial beauty of the paradise on earth, capturing a sense of innocence and serenity at the outset of creation.

The imagery of strawberries, cherries, and other fruits, along with otherworldly creatures, references the Garden of Eden, where humans and animals coexist in a harmonious and innocent way. The act of feasting on these fruits represents a romantic, yet cautionary tale—a blending of desire with heavenly innocence. This communion with nature reflects the initial purity of human beings before the fall, suggesting that in the beginning, desire was intertwined with natural harmony.

Two models from different races are central to this narrative, embodying the universality of the concept. Their presence sparks a broader conversation about identity, temptation, and desire, inviting the viewer to reflect on how cultural, racial, and personal experiences intersect with these universal themes. The work encourages viewers to reconsider the balance between innocence and temptation, highlighting how humanity's desire for pleasure can often lead to deeper consequences. Through this visual interpretation, the project delves into the timeless question of how we navigate our temptations within the framework of innocence and nature.
